Abstract

Innovations in research fields related to computer music and the advancement of the music industry have also influenced the digital sector for music education. Although many kinds of educational, edutainment, and entertainment music software appeared before the pandemic and are still in use, with the COVID-19 crisis and restrictions, it seems that music education in the primary classes has not systematically and thoroughly benefited from the innovations and advances reported by science and the music industries. However, the current need to teach music online could have an effect on the use of digital media after the pandemic. We present examples from the Netherlands, Romania, and Israel that lead to observations and suggestions about the potential of digital media after COVID-19.
