Abstract

The concept of phonosphere is presented and considered. The study of a soundscape or any conceptual sonic space is based on an understanding of its structure and specificity. We consider the definition and implementation of the concept in relation to music, soundscape studies, and as a universal tool for analysis of any physical or conceptual sonic space or sphere. The discussion connects the concept of the phonosphere with some of the terms adopted in soundscape ecology, thus creating a new perspective for considering it.
